Tasmania 2013
And so another trip comes to an end: 15 days in Tasmania, during which time we've experienced the hottest temperatures on record for the state, driven through fire-scarred countryside with the skies filled with smoke, been jolted awake by an earthquake... and enjoyed cloud-free blue skies over the alpine flowers of Ben Lomond, encountered the world's largest freshwater invertebrate in the world's largest temperate rainforests, enjoyed good views of all the island's endemic birds, watched albatrosses from our restaurant windows, seen ridiculously large numbers of Eastern Quoll (a mammal wiped out on the Australian mainland by the onslaught of introduced predators) on our night drive on Bruny Island and shared a balmy evening with two Platypus on a shady creek.
And I can highly recommend the wasabi cheese and the blueberry icecream. Although maybe not in the same cone.
