Tasmanian (or Red-bellied) Pademelon. An amazingly common little wallaby, to be seen grazing on road verges and on the edge of forest. Or, as this evening, stood in the middle of the main road in the town centre...
One of the definite highlights so far, the Short-beaked Echidna. After a couple of individuals that were only seen by myself or Mark, we finally found this adult feeding out in the open this morning, giving the whole group plenty of time to enjoy him. And then, like buses, along they came... another four animals were seen this afternoon. Amazing beasts. Here's hoping for more monotreme luck tomorrow night...
Our first Common Wombat, on the drive into Cradle Mountain National Park. By the time we drove out this afternoon, we'd seen at least 10 of them.
And for anyone who's been watching the news lately and is concerned about their friends or family in the Wildlife Travel group, rest assured: we are well away from the fires, safe and well and having a brilliant time.
