In early April two groups of Wildlife Travellers made their way to Iceland to try to catch sight of the Northern Lights, with solar activity due to peak during 2013.
Both groups saw the light show, although unfortunately the weather didn't do the second group any favours.
Judging by some of the photos that have come back from Iceland, the wildlife put on a pretty impressive display, with the usual favourites such as Harlequin and White-tailed Eagle, some very showy Orcas feeding on the herring shoals close inshore and a superb Gyrfalcon at close range...
Trip reports for these two trips are available from the usual place on our website: all photos copyright Andy Jones/Iceland Naturalist.
We will be returning to wintery Iceland in November: for more details, please get in touch.
