It's been a busy last few days.

We've now uploaded details of two new winter holidays to the website: Iceland in November, to enjoy the Northern Lights, and a Christmas holiday to the sun and early spring flowers of Cyprus.

You can also download the trip report from our holiday to Costa Rica in February: we hope to return to Costa Rica in February 2014.

Our group in Crete are enjoying the spring flowers: check Yiannis's blog for some of the photos.

And meanwhile tomorrow will see Chris and Henry set off for Lesvos, while I'm flying out to Ecuador and then on to Galapagos...

Iceland 2013: Northern Lights and winter wildlife

In early April two groups of Wildlife Travellers made their way to Iceland to try to catch sight of the Northern Lights, with solar activity due to peak during 2013.

Both groups saw the light show, although unfortunately the weather didn't do the second group any favours. 

Judging by some of the photos that have come back from Iceland, the wildlife put on a pretty impressive display, with the usual favourites such as Harlequin and White-tailed Eagle, some very showy Orcas feeding on the herring shoals close inshore and a superb Gyrfalcon at close range...

Wildlife News: 11th April 2013

• Who can resist a piebald bat? A new genus identified during surveys in South Sudan.

• While we are told spring is just around the corner, two pinniped visitors from the Arctic have obviously found the weather to their liking: a Walrus spent an afternoon in Orkney and a Bearded Seal is now on Shetland.

• URGENT: Vote by April 12th to protect albatrosses from longline fisheries in Namibia.

• And some news from us: after April's two successful trips to Iceland to enjoy the Northern Lights, plans are afoot for a third trip there, in November. And we're also looking at a Christmas holiday to Cyprus, to enjoy the bulbs and early orchids of the island... if either sounds of interest, please let us know.
